After three years away, Tom Barry is back in Sheffield after the Steeldogs confirmed his signing from the Hull Seahawks.
A product of the Sheffield Academy at ICE Sheffield, Barry represented the Rapiers, Greyhounds and Steelhawks before making his Steeldogs debut in 2013.
After 7 seasons with the Dogs, Barry moved to play two years with the Peterborough Phantoms before moving to Leeds ahead of spending last season with Hull.
Speaking on his return, Barry said “I’m really glad to be coming home.
“It’s always been a something I’ve wanted to do since I left Sheffield and I feel now the time is right. The team looks young, fast and exciting and I’m looking forward in being a part of it.
“To have the chance to bring silverware back to Sheffield is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m looking forward in being able to do that”.
Keeping his promise to bring Sheffield players back to the Dogs, head coach Ben Morgan commented “Bringing Baz back home is great for him personally and for us as a club.
“Baz has certainly grown as a player and a person by spreading his wings and gaining valuable ice time around the league in recent years and it’s this experience which he will lean on to show everyone why he’s worthy of a spot on our new-look team this season.
“Baz will bring bags of energy, but also look to display stability and reliability in his play as he transitions from the young pup who left us several years ago into the Steeldog we’ll see this season”.
