Telford 3-4 Sheffield O/T

Sheffield were missing Shudra (illness) Norton (Steelers).
Charlie Thompson returned to the squad after missing  the first half of the season through injury. It took just over 7 minutes for Charlie to make an impact in the game when he grabbed his first goal of the season, and the Dogs first of the night. The goal was against the run of play as Telford were out working Sheffield but a first period master class from Dan Crowe kept Telford at bay.

The second period began in much the same vein with Telford out working the Dogs, but Crowe once again was solid. The game changed on it’s head when a double penalty was called against the Dogs for tripping and high sticks. The resulting 5 on 3 gave Telford their first goal of the evening to tie the game up. Their second followed very quickly on the 5 on 4 power play to take the lead. It was nothing less than they deserved.
Sheffield got a power play of their own less than 2 minutes later. Some sublime work from that man Walker Sommer set Jono up with a tap in to bring the scores back level once again. Telford out worked the Dogs for the rest of the period, but the Dog’s stood firm.

Telford looked very tired in the third , with the Dog’s looking more likely to win the game out right. But a defensive turn over gave Telford the lead with less than 3 minutes to go.
With less than 2 minutes to go, Crowe headed to the bench for the extra attacker. The Dog’s stepped up their game with some great passing to set Tremblay up for his first of the night with the equaliser that would take the game into overtime.

Sheffield were the dominant team In overtime, Sam Tremblay once again stepping up to the mark for his second of the evening and the game winning goal.
Both teams deserved something out of the game, it was a great advert for British ice hockey
