Steeldogs Win in Swindon

Going into this match the Steeldogs were coming off the back off a win over the Peterborough Phantoms and they were hungry for another 2 points The lineup remained unchanged  since the Phantoms game with Ivan Bjorkly Nordstrom still injured yet the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs were still able to secure the win (3-1) over the Swindon Wildcats.

Period 1

Period one started with an early goal from Fin Ulrick at just 40 seconds. This really brought some confidence to the Steeldogs to keep on pushing into the offensive zone. Both teams ended up with powerplays in this period, however neither team were able to convert into a goal. There were great shots from both teams throughout this first 20 minutes. Though as the first period was coming to an end Walker Sommer put the Dogs up by 2 goals to zero. Unfortunately just 1 minute after this goal the Wildcats finally had a counter attack. A lovely pass from Joshua Shaw saw Sam Godfrey putting the puck past Ben Norton. The Steeldogs were the more dominant team in this period however the Wildcats were now only 1 goal behind going into period 2.

Period 2

The Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs came out onto the ice looking to extend their lead over the Swindon Wildcats. Elemeri Hallfors was the first to test Renny Marr however after this attempt the Wildcats then came into their own. Reed Sayers had a great chance  against Ben Norton, but he was unsuccessful in trying to find the goal they needed to tie up the game. Joshua Shaw for the Wildcats was driving the charges at the Dogs, but the defensive lines and Norton denied all chances. The period entered a stalemate with neither team scoring. Towards the end of the period Sam Tremblay and Chris Jones squared up, which resulted in them both getting penalties for roughing.  Shortly after Walker Sommer and his speed saw him get behind the Swindon defence and score a fantastic goal against Marr. Finally, Bricknell and Sam Tremblay ended the period with a fight resulting in them both getting 5 minutes in the penalty box.

Period 3

The third period started with an immediate penalty against the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs which led to Reed Sayers having an attempt on net, yet this was not converted. There were chances and shots created by both teams however in this period the play was heavily dominated by the Swindon Wildcats. The Wildcats were pinning the Steeldogs in their defensive zone with only a few opportunities where the Dogs managed to break free. Swindon pulled their netminder with a few minutes to go hoping for a goal, yet Norton was strong and the defenceman around him managed to keep all shots out of the back of the net. To see out the period both Edgars Bebris and Jake Bricknell had chances directed towards the net, but nothing came of it giving the Steeldogs a victory over the Swindon Wildcats 3-1.
