After Fridays lacklustre loss to Peterborough Phantoms, the Steeldogs were back on the road less than 15 hours later for the road trip to Bristol.
Minus Ulrick, who was back with the Steelers, Tate Shudra stepped back onto the 3rd line, with Nathan Ripley moving up to the 1st line.
A very slow start saw the dogs behind to an early Pryce goal, before Bjorkly-Nordstrom tied the game, skating round the pitbulls defence before poking the puck past Nappier.
The setback didn’t knock Bristol in any way and they soon went ahead with a Hill marker.
The game threatened to get away from the dogs but Norton, making his 1st start since injury, helped keep the score at 2, as the dogs struggling to get out of their zone.
However, the last part of the 1st period saw glimpses of what the dogs are capable of.
The 2nd period the dogs saw chance after chance go begging, whilst Nappier in the Pitbulls goal was single handedly keeping the dogs at bay.
Until Walker Sommer finally found a way past him around the halfway mark.
The dogs then laid siege around the Pitbulls net for the remainder of the period and such was their dominance, no one would have been surprised to see the dogs with double figures.
Credit to Nappier who stood on his head to keep the score at 2-2 going into the 3rd.
The dogs took just 5 minutes to take the lead in the 3rd, with Trembulee all over the bees defence like a nasty rash, culminating in Hallfors burying the puck past the overworked nettie.
The game continued in pretty much the same vein, until the last 5 minutes when Bristol finally managed a little presence in the dogs defensive third.
The few fans who had travelled down feared the worst, especially with the thought of Bristol giving Nappier a rest for the extra skater as the game went into the last 2 minutes.
But Sommer wasn’t having any of that as he calmly fired home from the slot to send ‘Elvis’ on his way out of the building!.
Dogs finally ending their 3 game losing streak with a comprehensive victory and they will hopefully take this momentum into the cup semi on Friday.
‘Sommer Walker’ !!! took the M.O.M award for the dogs but special mention to Tate Shudra 💪 who never let the Pitbulls defence have any time on the puck and the whole team defence ethos, which kept the home team struggling to gain any momentum.
Pitbulls ‘Nappier Tommy’ 😉 must’ve been the easiest M.O.M call in the history of the sport.
Bring on the cheese slices.
