Steeldogs 1-4 Wildcats

Steeldogs had the charismatic Charlie Thompson starting his 1st home game of the season, looking to add to his 1st period marker yesterday , but were still without Tate Shudra in their match up with title contenders Swindon Wildcats.

Steeldogs got into their stride after seeing off an early penalty to Nathan Ripley and deservedly took the lead in the 9th minute, Jonathan Phillips accurately firing past Marr after great work by Tim Smith and Sam Tremblay.

The dogs continued to have the upper hand until Swindon equalised at 16.40 through Bullas.
1-1 is how it stayed until the end of the period.

Swindon knew they had to step up and they put the game beyond the dogs with 2 quickfire goals between the 24th and 27th minute. Plews and Bradley (PPG) finding their way past Dan Crowe.
Both netminders were in fine form and prevented any further scoring going into the 2nd break.
It was going to be a big ask for the dogs to get back into the game and despite the efforts of the home team, Swindon showed why they are the form team in the league.

They didnt add to the score until Bricknell shot at 58.42 into the empty net vacated by Crowe, as the Dogs opted for the extra skater.

Not one of the better performances from the home team, but you have to give Swindon credit for shutting the Dogs down.

Renny Marr took the away Man of the Match award, whilst Jack Brammer took the beers as Steeldogs M.O.M , continuing his good run of form patrolling the dogs blue line.

Next up are Leeds Knights, as they come to Ice Sheffield on Fri 31st Jan, looking to bounce back from their narrow defeat in Peterborough.
