Sheffield began their first game without top end import Sam Tremblay who has stepped up to the steelers for the rest of the season.
Doxy stepped up to the first line and Shudra is still absent through injury.
The Dogs started brightly and had several chances to take the lead, but the bee’s netminder kept them at bay. Until at 13.13 when that man Walker Sommer broke free and buried in the back of the net to give the Dog’s their first lead of the night.
The Dog’s started brightly in the second when Hallfors and Ivan combined at 39 seconds in the second to double the lead to 2-0.
This seem to spur the Bee’s into action, they recorded their first of the night @ 22-13.
The teams were swapping goals at this point with Jono adding a third to the Dog’s score to take it to a 3-1 lead @ 24-52.
This once again spurred the Bee’s on and they were duly rewarded with a breakaway that caught the Dog’s defensive unit out of position , a very nice goal from Bee’s 74 reduced the deficit to 1 @ 32-29. The Bee’s were in control now and kept pushing forward for the equaliser which they duly got @ 38-18 , which took us into the second period break tied at 3 all.
The Dog’s had a little more bite in them in the third but no one was making an impact. It looked like the Dog’s were going to overtime for the third game in a row. But Walker Sommer knew differently, he skated past Bee’s defence, continued around the back of the net and scored a beautiful wrap around goal @54:22.
Time was running out for the Bee’s , with 2 minutes to go they called a time out and the netminder remained on the bench. At 1:10 left Hallfors escaped his own defence zone and score an unassisted fifth goal for the Dog’s to wrap the game up at 5-3.
Sommer took the man of the match.
