Romford 3-4 Sheffield  O/T

A one game weekend for Sheffield and hopefully most of the players had recovered from the illness of last weekend.
Shudra was still missing from the line up and Adams returned from  an injury but unfortunately it was going to be a short return. Norton got the nod in goal with Warburton backing up.

The team still looked a little jaded from the efforts of last weekend and it showed in the first.
A wayward pass in the defensive zone presented itself to the on rushing Miller , who made no mistake in burying it the back of the net.
More trouble for the dogs when they picked a bench minor penalty for too many men. Sheffield were defending  it very well until Anderson found himself free in the front of the net to make it 2-0 for Romford.
Losing 2-0 end of first , Sheffield needed to step it up.

The second started positively.
A great fore check by Hallfors saw him take the puck off old SteelDogs favourite Tom Relf and bury the puck in the bottom right hand corner.
The team were still celebrating when Romford increased their lead back to 2 with a shot from the blue line. Sheffield were still pushing to stay in the game.
A highlight reel goal from just inside the blue line from Tom Barry reduced the deficit back to one.
The second period ended with Sheffield trailing 3-2.

The third period belonged to Sheffield as it did last weekend against the Berkshire Bees. The big come back looked on again, but even with total possession, lots of shots it looked liked Sheffield were going to fall short this time.
With 2:16 left in the period Sheffield called a time out. Norton was left on the bench with 6 skaters on the ice looking for that all important equalising goal.
It came with less than a minute to go when that man Walker Sommer popped up with his first of the night.
For the second game running Sheffield had secured at least a point late on with their never say die attitude.

Overtime was up next.
3 on 3 is always very exciting and good to watch. A very controversial goal was score by that man Walker Sommer again. I’m sure someone will put a video showing what truly happened.
It’s now in the books as a SteelDogs win and another great come back to take maximum points .
