“I’m a Steeldog but I’m enjoying my time with the Steelers” says Sam

The summer signing that set all the tongues wagging in the NIHL was that made by the Sheffield Steeldogs when they confirmed the capture of former Manchester Storm forward Samuel Tremblay

The Sheffield Steelers also benefited from the Steeldogs signings as the Steelers are able to use the services of the 29 year forward in their CHL campaign that begins on Thursday night in Fribourg, Switzerland

You can listen to the whole interview below as Tremblay explains his decision on coming to Sheffield and how he hopes to win trophies with the Steeldogs as well as helping the youngsters at the club progress.

“Being here with the Steelers is a great opportunity and I’m hoping to help the club as much as I can” he explained “it’s a little weird for me being part of two teams but both sides have been very understanding. So it’s weird but also a cool thing for me

“The opportunity to come to the Steeldogs has given me the opportunity to focus on my studies and also continue to play the game at the national level, to be honest when I was in Manchester I didn’t know a lot about the national league but I’m excited to be playing in it now

“The opportunity to come to the Steeldogs was very interesting to me because seeing what Foxy and Jamie was trying to do here in Sheffield is something very different. In the EIHL it is mainly imports but this idea of a farm team like we have in North America helps development, its how guys get more loyal to teams and its how we can create more opportunity for home grown players

“Also, I’ve always been a part of the leadership group before and the chance to lead without wearing a letter on my jersey is something very interesting for me”

Talking about his times with the Steeldogs he continued “If you don’t aim to win something then I don’t think there is a purpose, but we have to aim to focus and get better every day so lets see how it goes”
