Steeldogs Dominate the Bees: A 7-2 Victory Caps Off a Four-Point Weekend

The lineup tonight against the Berkshire Bees changed since the Steeldogs’ victory in Swindon last night. Firstly, Ivan Bjorkly Nordstrom was sadly still injured, Fin Ulrick was playing for the Sheffield Steelers away at Dundee and Tom Barry was unavailable for this game, however this didn’t matter as the Dogs won 7-2!

A 4-point weekend for your Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs!

Period 1

The Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs came out onto the ice again wanting another win, however first to strike was the Berkshire Bees after a penalty against the Steeldogs resulted in a goal by Marcel Balez. This goal ignited some fire in the bellies of the Dogs as Elmeri Hallfors led the charge into the offensive zone creating chances left, right and centre. Sadly nothing came from this until Tate Shudra bagged the Steeldogs their equalising goal! Immediately the Bees went back to pressuring Ben Norton with more chances from the away side. Consequently Dominik Gabaj found the back of the net for the Bees after having a few previous attempts on Steeldogs goalie. Towards the end of the period Steeldogs built up some momentum with a few shots from various players. Their golden opportunity came with a penalty against the Bees resulting in a powerplay goal by Sam Tremblay to see out period 1 (score 2-2).

Period 2

The Bees came into period 2 throwing shot after shot at Ben Norton trying to get ahead of the Dogs, but he denied all chances, which led to a build up in play and a Walker Sommer goal! This put the Steeldogs ahead.  Ben Morgan ended up in the penalty box which meant the Bees went on the attack and a shot from Stuart Mogg came so close to the back of the net, but instead hit the ironwork! The Dogs killed all the penalties against them this period. This built up confidence within the team leading to a goal by Jonathon Phillips after he deflected an oncoming shot by Tim Smith into the back of the net. Another penalty against the Dogs, Sam Tremblay, meant Ben Norton had to pull off some crucial saves to see out the period (4-2).

Period 3

The Bees again started this period strong trying to get goals over the Steeldogs in hope to start a comeback, Dominik Gobaj was posing a real threat to the Dogs however Norton stood strong and kept any threat out of the net! The Steeldogs definitely had a slow start to the period however they began to build momentum. After this burst of confidence a phenomenal unassisted goal was scored by Walker Sommer hitting the puck top right! The Dogs kept attacking the Bees, this ended with a link up play between Nathan Ripley and Walker Sommer, and another amazing goal was scored by Sommer putting the Dogs 4 goals in front. The Bees again were not giving up and tried again with the likes of Marcel Balaz and Dominik Gobaj, yet again Ben Norton kept denying the Bees a goal. Finally, to end the period Jonathon Phillips scored a brilliant shorthanded goal whilst Ollie Turner was in the penalty box for interference. This did not matter as the final score was a 7-2 Victory for the Dogs!
