Tremblay Decides on the Steeldogs

In demand centre Samual Tremblay has signed with the Steeldogs for the 2024-25 season

The Steeldogs fought off many clubs including some in the Elite league to secure the former Manchester Storm forwards signature

Owner Tony Smith confirmed the deal today saying “We told Steeldogs fans at the beginning of the summer that things were going to change, and this final import signing shows that we have held up our part of bargain. I know this signing of an established Elite League forward will raise the eyebrows of many, but I am equally as happy with all of the other signings we have made this summer both on and off the ice

“I hope all Steeldogs fans are as excited as I am for the start of the new season”

Tremblay impressed in his first season in the UK scoring 12 goals and 25 points for the Manchester Storm and was sought after by more than one club in the Elite League

“I’m super excited for this next chapter of my career in Sheffield. You can feel the winning mentality throughout the whole organization and the way that they want to create a pathway for British players to reach the next level is also very exciting for me to be a part of. I’ve been putting a lot of work in, both on and off the ice this summer, so I can’t wait to get on the ice with the team and win hockey games”

Prior to arriving in the UK Tremblay played his junior hockey in the QMJHL for Blainville-Boisbriand Armada before heading to McGill University to complete his education.

In 2022 Tremblay turned professional completing a season in the East Coast league with Wheeling Nailers before signing for Manchester Storm last summer.

Head coach Ben Morgan commented “Bringing in a player of Sam’s calibre again shows just how much the club has come on in such a short space of time.  I’m sure the fans will be excited with this announcement as it completes our import signings.

“We already know what to expect from Sam having seen what he can do in the elite league last season. With our British depth this season, we’ll be able to compliment Sam’s game and provide entertaining hockey in Sheffield”.

Samuel Trembley arrives in Sheffield on Wednesday and will skate with his team mates ahead of the weekend.
