Year 10 with the Steeldogs for Thompson

What a servant Charlie Thompson has been for the Sheffield Steeldogs, todays confirmation of his return for the new season means it will be ten straight years with the club for the 5’10 centre from Rotherham.

“I am so happy to be back in Sheffield for my 10th season” he said “It’s something I could have only dreamed of as a kid. It is a real honour to be able to play for my childhood team for so long.

“When Morgs (head coach Ben Morgan) asked me to come back it was a no brainer for me and there was only one answer he was going to get.

“I’m excited to get going with the season and I’m looking forward to working with the physio team to get me back on the ice as soon as possible”.

Morgan was delighted to have his rock back in the line up for the new season saying “Despite suffering his injury last season and his on-going rehabilitation, Chaz is determined as ever to give everything he has for the club this season.

“The one guy who does everything for the team and who in the past has scored timely goals, fought and been a voice in the room.

“As a leader in his own right, we are delighted to be able to see the heartbeat of the team pull on the shirt for a 10th season in a row and play his part in what we’re sure will be an exciting 2024/25 season”.
