Steeldogs traveled to play the Telford Tigers today with the Tigers taking 2 points from the last encounter back in October with an overtime win.
Officials for the game are Anderson and Ions with the orange bands, and George and Stanley on the lines.
Both teams start out strong but an early mistake by the Steeldogs Defence caused some confusion and the Tigers’ number 4 Adam Harding took full advantage putting the puck past Crowe.

Steeldogs reply with some good set plays in the Tigers end with a few mid ice battles taking placement, but not managing to get past Brad Day.
In the opening 10 mins the Tigers look strong keeping the puck in the Steeldogs zone, making a decent number of opportunities.
A play from Luka gets saved by Crowe and the Steeldogs launch a quick counter attack with some good mid ice passing, Kirk and Tremblay setting up Björkly-Nordström to get past Brad Day putting the puck into back of the net.

Luka gets through the defence and goes one on 0 against Crowe but the play was read brilliantly and he makes the save.
At 13:50 #13 H Ferguson gets a 2 mins penalty for interference

Period 1 Summary
The tigers come straight on the ice tuned into the game, getting the early goal to set themselves up.
An equaliser by PLAYER levelled the game but some defensive mistakes lead to the Tigers taking the lead. The Steeldogs were unable to capitalise on the two powerplays they had.
Period 2
Steeldogs come out strong and get three shots on goal on quick succession, but Brad Day covers the puck up for the face off.
J Beamer drives a breakaway towards Day but the puck is saved and covered up, no luck this time.
There is Decent action at both ends of the rink but neither team getting the upper hand against each other.
DAY doing well to keep the score at 2-1 reading the plays coming towards him from the Steeldogs and able to anticipate where the shots will come from.
At 33:46 #39 L Newell for the Tigers gets a 2 minute penalty for holding
The Steeldogs go on the powerplay for the 3rd time tonight.
Just shy of a minute into the powerplay the Steeldogs managed to overcome the Tigers defence and at 34:42 J Philips gets the powerplay goal.

Period 2 Summary
At the start of period two both team started strong with the tigers giving it their all not to loose the goal advantage they had.
A careless penalty cost them that goal lead giving up a powerplay goal.
The later part of the period was good end to end hockey.

Early action from the Steeldogs with more dominance in the end zone.
Another quick shot straight off the face off sees Brad Day making a great save, similar play to last nights game which caught R Marr off guard, but not such luck tonight.
There was action both ends of the ice and at 46:06 things got a little bit heated and Tigers #23 D Thomson got a two minute penalty for abuse of an official.
Steeldogs powerplay unit steps onto the ice again.
The unit wasn’t able to take advantage of the extra player on the ice despite some nice shots on goal, and equally nice saves by Day.
Back to 5 on 5 hockey.
Just under ten mins to go and at 50:20 Tigers #12 D Rose gets called for a two minute roughing penalty.
Steeldogs don’t capitalise on this penalty but do work the tigers players hard, and at 55:06 they finally get a puck past Day.

Both teams start piling the pressure in the dying minutes of the game, with Day leaving the goal for the extra skater at 58:44.
Puck is covered by Crowe and the Tigers call their time out at 59:00
Tigers get possession off the face off and work the puck to the Steeldogs zone, but the puck is turned over and falls into the hands of Sommer and Morgan, who pass it to Tremblay who is only ever going to do one thing, and plants the puck in the empty net.
