Bradfield Brewery will once again be the title sponsors of the Sheffield Steeldogs, it will be an incredible 12th season of title sponsorship for the brewery based in Bradfield in the Peak District.
“The commitment that John & Susan Gill and their family have shown to the Steeldogs through good times and bad has been amazing” said Steeldogs owner Tony Smith “we hope to repay that loyalty and commitment this season with some exciting hockey, some success but also have the stability and growth that I know John & Susan and Bradfield Brewery have craved for this club for a long time”
Bradfield Brewery have a 13 year relationship with the Steeldogs, this will be their 12th as title sponsor “I just feel a connection” said Director John Gill “from the moment I went down to Ice Sheffield and watched the Steeldogs it felt right, there was a certain rawness to the Steeldogs that I felt when I first watched the Steelers back in 1994. I got hooked.
“Over the years we have seen some great kids develop, none more so than Liam Kirk. Now we have the chance to see that happen again with lots of good youngsters in this squad helped and encouraged by the likes of Jonathan Phillips, there is no one better to encourage the younger players than him”
Former Steelers captain and Steeldogs forward Jonathan Phillips acknowledged the role that John & Susan and their family, as Bradfield Brewery, had played in not only the Steeldogs but in Sheffield ice hockey saying “I’ve been in Sheffield for a long time now and I can’t remember John not being part of the ice hockey scene in the City. He is always available for you, always (remove this-will)willing to help and assist and more than anything, always there to support
“Bradfield Brewery are a hugely valuable part of the Steeldogs, and also back supporting the Steelers this year as puck sponsors. I think all of us in the Ice Hockey community here in Sheffield have a lot to thank John & Susan for and I’m delighted they are remaining with us again this coming season, winning a championship and sampling the sponsors product afterwards is certainly something to look forward to”
